It is also a center for culture, art, fashion, international diplomacy, and learning, and its dominant service sector is filled with employees from all corners of New York City. Manhattan is also home to the United Nations, as well as the Citadel, ATLAS's primary base of operations in the Western Hemisphere. |

| Brooklyn Known for its many brownstone residences and what has become the typical "New York" accent, Brooklyn is the most populous borough of New York City, with a distinct culture of its own born from being what was, previously, one of the largest cities in America prior to its incorporation. It has thrived as a location for back office operations, particularly from companies based in Manhattan to which it is connected via the Brooklyn Bridge, and many of its neighborhoods are ethnic enclaves. |

| Queens Located on Long Island just east of Brooklyn, Queens is the largest of the five boroughs of New York City by area. Its diversified economy is also the second largest behind Manhattan. With luxurious high-rise apartments, as well as suburban sprawls to the east, Queens has a diverse population with nearly half of its people having been born outside of the United States. |

| The Bronx Home of the Yankees and the northernmost of New York City's five boroughs, the Bronx is one of the most densely populated areas in the United States despite nearly a third of it being open parkland. Though it has its own fair share of upper and middle income households, the Bronx contains one of the poorest Congressional Districts in the United States (the 15th district, otherwise known as "South Bronx"), and 30% of its population live below the poverty line. There is a strong sense of community, though, and since the 90s community leaders and grass-roots efforts have sparked a resurgence in the Bronx's economy and development. |

| Staten Island Often called the "Forgotten Borough," Staten Island is the southernmost borough, as well as the southermost point of both the city and state of New YOrk. Distinct from its sisters in many ways, one of which is that it isn't connected to the New York City Subway System (the horror!), Staten Island is the least populated of the five boroughs. It has a vast park system, however, with miles of beaches, woodlands, and salt marshes, and its pizza and bagels are a hundred times better than the generic knockoffs you get in Manhattan! |
